A fishing adventure in the heart of the wilderness

Five clients and I from Outside Travels journeyed to Canada to experience the legendary fishing in the Skeena system. This is an area that offers everything an angler could dream of – raw nature, strong fish, and rivers with soul.
Our goal was clear: powerful steelheads, bright cohos, and other strong species in some of the world's most fabled rivers.

Three rivers – three unique characters

During six fantastic fishing days, we fished in the Skeena, Copper, and Kitimat, three rivers with completely different characteristics.
Mornings began with crisp autumn air and mist that slowly lifted over the mountains. At dawn, eagles could already be heard calling along the riverbanks, and it wasn't long before we saw both bald eagles, bear tracks, and even wolf tracks in the sand.
Nature here feels real – mighty, raw, and untouched.

Accommodation and camaraderie at the lodge

We stayed at a fantastic lodge where warmth and hospitality permeated the walls.
After long days on the river, we were welcomed home with delicious three-course dinners and endless stories.
The guides' knowledge and dedication were outstanding – they generously shared tips, helped with technique, and ensured everyone got the most out of their fishing.

Steelhead dreams come true

Everyone in the group landed beautiful fish, and several caught their first steelhead – an experience that makes the heart beat a little faster.
Some took the opportunity to refine their casting technique, and the progress made during the week was impressive.
There's something special about standing in the middle of a Canadian river, feeling the power of the water, and knowing that the next cast could bring contact with one of the world's most sought-after fish.

Evenings filled with laughter and stories

Evenings concluded by the fire with laughter, stories, and perhaps a glass of wine.
It is precisely these moments – sharing the day's experiences with like-minded individuals – that create memories for a lifetime.

The genuine camaraderie is something that always comes home after a fishing trip.

Skeena River – Canada delivers every time

Canada delivered on all fronts: the fishing, the nature, the food, and the camaraderie.
We will be organizing fishing trips to the Skeena River next year as well, so if you want to experience fly fishing in Canada for real – don't wait too long.
The limited spots for Skeena fill up quickly.
