Fish Species and Bait Choices
In the Netherlands, we primarily fish for large perch, but there are also excellent opportunities for pike and zander. Perch often hunt in schools and grow large due to an abundance of baitfish and crayfish. Pike thrive in vegetation-rich areas, while zander often reside deeper along edges and structures.
Common and effective lures include jigs with shads or crayfish imitations, crankbaits, and jerkbaits. Chatterbaits and topwater lures can also deliver when the predatory fish are more active. We always adapt our lure choice to the day's conditions – that is often the key to the biggest bites.
RenzStein RenzTail Finesse 7cm, 3g (8-pack) - B10 Red Devil is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.

When should you go on a fishing trip to the Netherlands?
Fishing in the Netherlands is good all year round, but spring and autumn are by far the best periods for large perch and zander. Late summer can also offer really fun pike fishing. We always plan our trips outside of spawning seasons to ensure the best possible conditions.

Facts about the country
Facts about the country
The Netherlands, or Holland as many call it, is a flat and watery country in Western Europe. Here you'll find a landscape with large lakes, rivers, and canals that wind through cities and agricultural areas – making the country perfect for sport fishing. The capital is Amsterdam, but the government is located in The Hague. The official language is Dutch and the currency is the euro.
The country is known for its open and welcoming culture, its historic cities, and its efficient infrastructure that makes it easy to travel between fishing spots and attractions. Thanks to its unique aquatic environment, the Netherlands is one of Europe's most exciting countries for perch, pike, and zander – and a must-visit destination for anglers who enjoy both adventure and comfortable travel.
Is there Wi-Fi available?
Is there Wi-Fi available?
Yes, there is Wi-Fi at the hotel where you are staying. Coverage may vary slightly in some areas, but you will have access to the internet to keep in touch with loved ones or share the day's catches.
How do you fish in the Netherlands?
How do you fish in the Netherlands?
In the Netherlands, anglers primarily actively fish for large perch, pike, and zander in the country's many lakes, rivers, and canals. Perch are usually caught using jig fishing, shads, crayfish imitations, and hard lures such as crankbaits and jerkbaits. Pike and zander are often found along structures and drop-offs, where larger baits work well. Local fishing guides are often used as they fish daily and know exactly where the fish are located and which baits yield the best results on any given day.
What are the weather and climate like?
What are the weather and climate like?
The climate in Frovåg on Senja is typically North Norwegian, with fresh winds, clear air, and changeable weather. During the fishing season from April to September, temperatures are usually between 8 and 18 degrees Celsius – but some days offer brilliant sunshine and over 20 degrees.
When the sun warms the fjords and the sea is calm, fantastic fishing days await. At the same time, the sheltered coves mean that it's almost always possible to find good fishing regardless of the weather. Please pack layers and waterproof clothing, and you'll be ready for all conditions. The weather can change quickly!
